Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

Ingredients:

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. Salt
¼ tsp. Nutmeg
1 ½ tsp. Baking soda
4 oz. Unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup butter
1 ¾ cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:

Grease and four 9x13 pan or 2- 9” cake pans. Preheat oven to 325º. Sift together dry ingredients. Set aside. Melt chocolate. In large bowl of electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar unti light and fluffy. Stop mixer and scrape down bowl and beaters serveral times. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. With mixer on low, add flour and buttermilk alternately to batter. Stir in vanilla and cooled chocolate, blending until color is even. Turn mixture into prepared pan. Smooth level. Bake in lower third of oven40-50 min, until top springs back to touch.
