Ingredients
1 Tablespoon of yeast
1/4 Cup of warm water
2 Cups buttermilk
3/4 Cup shortening
1/4 Cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
5 Cups flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
Dissolve yeast in water. Stir in buttermilk, shortening, sugar, salt. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour with baking powder and baking soda, stir into yeast mixture. Beat smooth. Add remaining flour. Knead 5 minutes. Roll1/2" thick. Cut into rounds. Let ris until double (1 hour). Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes.
